Overview

As a Senior Cloud Architect, you will be responsible for leading the development of multi-cloud data management architecture to enable biomedical research for a project/program at NIH with responsibilities outlined below.  This role is ideal for a candidate who has in-depth knowledge and hands-on project/program management experience with NIH.  This candidate also thrives in leading collaborative, cross-functional teams and is motivated to support NIH’s mission.

Responsibilities

  • Designs, develops, implements, utilizes, and conforms to enterprise cloud architecture application solutions, strategies, processes, and standards, focusing on expertise in cloud technologies 
  • Collaborates with business owners, Analysts, Engineers, development teams, and infrastructure services to define, establish, and communicate application and data architecture standards, policies, and directions 
  • Designs secure cloud solutions and high quality architectures, and drives architecture activities that are aligned to organization and biomedical research data management and sharing requirements set by leadership on behalf of stakeholders and are consistent with enterprise architectural standards 
  • Research, designs, plans, and implements new services and technologies into current operational environment 

Qualifications

  • 10+ years' experience designing, executing and supporting IT cloud solutions 
  • 8 years of additional relevant experience may be substituted for education 
  • Positive attitude and a strong commitment to delivering quality work 
  • Excellent knowledge of cloud computing technologies and current computing trends 
  • Effective communication skills (written and verbal) to properly articulate complicated cloud reports to management and other IT development partners 
  • Experience migrating or transforming legacy customer solutions to the cloud 
  • Experience with multi-cloud platforms such as Amazon Web Services, GCP, and Azure beneficial 
  • Demonstrated understanding of design and building cloud service models including Infrastructure-as-a-Service, Platform-as-a-Service, and Software-as-a-Service 
  • Demonstrated experience developing generalized reusable software components and continuous integration and infrastructure as code
  • Effective coaching and leadership skills and an ability to successfully champion mature solutions 

 

Additional Qualifications

  • Experience leading efforts in a Federal Healthcare agency (e.g., NIH, CMS, VA) 
  • Active Public Trust clearance at NIH, CMS or VA is desirable

Education: 

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology or relevant field; Master’s degree preferred 
  • Agile/SAFe Certification is preferred

 

Clearance: 

  • Ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance  

 

Location: 

  • Washington DC (National Captial Area)
  • Open to potential full-time in-office work mandate by the government
