Responsibilities

The IT Infrastructure Strategist bridges the gap between technical architecture and business analysis, focusing on designing, evaluating, and implementing infrastructure solutions that align with organizational goals and financial strategies. This role combines technical expertise in IT infrastructure with strategic insights to ensure long-term solutions meet operations, compliance, and budgetary requirements.

 

As part of the Future Operations/Planning Team, the IT Infrastructure Strategist collaborates with architects, business analysts, and stakeholders to develop scalable, cost-effective solutions while ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and compliance standards.

 

  • Analyze current and future infrastructure needs to propose innovative, scalable solutions.
  • Develop and refine infrastructure roadmaps in collaboration with technical architects and leadership.
  • Conduct feasibility studies, cost-benefit analyses, and risk assessments for proposed solutions.
  • Translate business requirements into actionable technical specifications.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure infrastructure initiatives align with organizational goals, financial strategies and compliance frameworks.
  • Identify and mitigate risks associated with infrastructure deployments and upgrades.
  • Act as a liaison between technical teams, business stakeholders, and leadership, ensuring clarity and alignment.
  • Present complex technical strategies in business terms to non-technical audiences.
  • Facilitate workshops and discussions to prioritize and refine infrastructure strategies.
  • Support financial modeling for IT infrastructure investments, including RIO, TCO, and NPV analyses.
  • Monitor project budgets and track resource allocation to ensure cost-efficiency.
  • Ensure infrastructure solutions comply with relevant federal frameworks (e.g., NIST, FedRAMP, Section 508)
  • Document policies, workflows, and procedures to support infrastructure planning and initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Must have experience and deep knowledge of IT infrastructure and business practices and be able to conduct research on IT systems, storage, virtualization, container orchestration, and other backend IT systems.
  • Must have experience with proposing new solutions to problems in the areas of IT infrastructure.
  • Must be able to work and analyze both independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong understanding of IT infrastructure, including cloud platforms, virtualization, and networking.
  • Familiarity with emerging technologies and trends in IT infrastructure.
  • Ability to align technical initiatives with business goals and financial constraints.
  • Strong analytical skills for evaluating costs, risks, and benefits of proposed solutions.
  • Excellent ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Proven ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and build relationships with stakeholders.
  • Skilled in managing budgets, tracking performance metrics, and ensuring project timelines are met.
  • Infrastructure Tools: Proficiency in cloud platforms (AWS, Azure), virtualization technologies (VMware, Kubernetes), and networking tools.
  • Analytics Tools: Experience with Excel (advanced), Power BI, and other Power Apps for data visualization and reporting.
  • Project Management Tools: Familiarity with ServiceNow, SharePoint, MS Teams. Expert proficiency in MS Word and PowerPoint a plus.
  • Compliance Standards: Understanding of NIST frameworks, FedRAMP requirements, and Section 508 accessibility standards.

 

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, or a related scientific or technical discipline, or equivalent PLUS 10 Years of experience
  • Eight (8) years of additional relevant experience may be substituted for education (18 Total)

 

Clearance: 

  • The ability to pass a Tier 2/Moderate Background Investigation 

 

Location:

  • Remote, USA
  • Monday - Friday (8:00 AM - 4:30 PM EST)

 

Pay Range:

  • The pay for this position ranges from $68,730 to $89,500
  • The actual salary offer will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location
  • Also, certain positions are eligible for additional forms of compensation, such as bonuses
