Responsibilities

A Senior Systems Engineer provides technical support in system architecture, system design, system integration and technical management. Assists in providing technical input to the systems engineering process. Leads teams in developing application and technical plans. Guide customers in the installation and use of strategic products through education and guidance, first-use and tuning assistance problem solving and critical situation resolution.

  • Software Development/Configuration Control Management skills including GitHub, Working with team using AGILE software methodologies, Developing software, testing software, deploying to production, EPAS - how to request for and obtain various levels of access to servers, etc and System monitoring tools used by VA - Dynatrace,SPLUNK, etc.
  • Disaster recovery planning and testing of recovery procedures including Problem resolution - ServiceNow ticket creation, update, resolution
  • Cloud platform/environment knowledge including Microsoft AZURE and AWS - Amazon Web Services
  • Technical Writing – Documentation of Disaster Recovery Procedures, Standard Operating Procedures, System Design Documentation and System Diagrams using VISIO
  • UNIX/LINUX/RED HAT Operating systems, Sysadmin skills with elevated privileges, CRONTAB job scheduling and Powershell scripting
  • Windows Operating System including Sysadmin skills with elevated privileges, Task scheduling, .bat scripting, command shell, power shell

Qualifications

  • Able to write a professional email that is clear and concise without spelling and grammar errors
  • Able to work with little to no management, able to be handed a complex task that may take multiple weeks and get it done without supervision
  • Proven history of getting things done across disciplines 
  • If given a technical task outside their base of knowledge should be able to get up to speed quickly and work well with other SME's to execute it on behalf of the VA
  • Moderate Windows & Windows Server
  • Basic SQL/database administration
  • Basic Linux/Unix
  • Basic cloud knowledge
  • Amazon AWS or Microsoft Azure
  • Basic programming
  • Basic networking

Preferred Skills:

  • Strong SQL/database administration
  • Strong cloud knowledge
  • Amazon AWS or Microsoft Azure
  • Strong networking

Education:

  • Masters Degree in Computer Science electronics engineering or other engineering or technicial discipline PLUS 10 Years of experience
  • Ten (10) years of additional relevant experience may be substituted for education

 

Clearance:

  • The ability to pass a Tier 4/High Background Investigation

Location:

  • Remote, USA
  • Monday - Friday (7:00 AM - 3:30 PM CST)

 

Pay Range:

  • The pay for this position ranges from $80,730 to $99,500
  • The actual salary offer will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location
  • Also, certain positions are eligible for additional forms of compensation, such as bonuses
