TISTA Science and Technology is looking for a Performance Tester to join a program that performs IT Operations and Maintenance, Infrastructure Protection, Information Assurance, and Software Development Support Services for our federal client.

  • Apply a comprehensive and continuous performance management approach by designing, implementing, automating, executing, analyzing, and implementing improvements in a continuous integration environment
  • Assists the design and the development teams in establishing SLAs and ensures the applications meet the defined SLAs
  • Understands system's technical architecture, and is able to identify the performance implications for different layers and components of system based on design discussions or architecture documents
  • Creates and maintains test framework and scripts for load, stress and endurance/soak tests
  • Analyzes performance requirements, translates into detailed performance test plans, and creates test scripts
  • Plans, prepares, and conducts performance tests to improve availability, performance, reliability, capacity and scalability in the application
  • Analyzes test results with engineers, product managers, other stakeholders and coordinates with the respective teams for performance tuning and bug fixes
  • Identifies application performance bottlenecks and facilitates root cause analysis of system issues to minimize impact and future occurrence
  • Monitor system metrics during performance test executions
  • Develop and submit performance test reports
  • Maintains credibility in communication and takes actions on assigned responsibilities
  • Manage and report on key quality metrics
  • Function as a technical expert across multiple project assignments
  • Work with respective teams to plan/define SLAs and ensure they are met


  • 5+ years of experience working with large scale Web applications written in Java and JavaScript
  • 3+ years of hands on experience in performance testing including, but not limited to load, stress and endurance test planning, scripting and execution
  • Strong experience with performance testing techniques such as performance work load modeling, establishing baselines, services monitoring, and profiling system performance
  • Ability to work in a fast paced and agile development environment to lead the Performance Engineering test activities, correlate application release plans with Performance Engineering testing activities, status reporting, and prioritizing in concert with business needs and priorities. 
  • Demonstrated knowledge of algorithms, information systems and programming concepts is required
  • Strong Communication skills
  • Proficient with JMeter
  • Writing technical test plans, test case scenarios, identifying load projections
  • Experience working as part of a successful Agile/SCRUM team delivering test automation
  • Experience in configuring and executing scripts using JMeter as the performance test tool 
  • Preferable to have experience performance testing applications and systems in an AWS environment
  • Preferable EggPlant Performance Test Tool
  • Experience in testing the performance of RESTful API
  • Extensive understanding web application and browser concepts (HTTP/HTTPS, connections, cookies, caching, streaming, etc.)
  • Performance testing experience working with databases, such as PostgreSQL
  • Experience handling and creating test data in various formats (JSON, XML, CSV, etc.) while understanding data storage, encoding, encryption, data transformation, and related concepts
  • Experience with performance monitoring tools across a wide variety of technologies
  • Experience in summarizing performance test results in a clear and concise manner to management
  • Enthusiastic and energetic with an inherent curiosity to break code and stress test it


  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field


    • The ability to pass a Tier 2/Modest Background Investigation
