The selected Communications Specialist will be supporting critical financial applications within the Veterans Affairs, which directly affects our soldier's and military family's wellbeing. The successful Commutations Specialist will work with stakeholders to drive communication efforts and bring new ideas to light.

Responsibilities

Main Responsibilities

  • Update, manage and execute client’s Crisis, Incident and Disaster Recovery, Fraud and Cyber Communication Plan
  • Solicit communications input from diverse stakeholders in difference technical and business disciplines and be able to translate into common, simplified business English
  • Lead/coordinate comms during an incident like DR, Cyber, Fraud, Breach, etc.
  • Work with technical SMEs to produce effective crisis communication plan and procedures in place for disaster recovery and incident management
  • Leveraging technology to issue all communications during major incidents and providing key stakeholders timely information in an easy to understand business terminology
  • Create, maintain and manage content on client various Microsoft SharePoint sites
  • Communicate with a large number of stakeholders both vertical and horizontal
  • Work closely with the Fraud and Disaster Recovery and Incident Response areas, understand the root causes of issues and determine best communication approach for various audience

  • Ensure organization branding is streamlined through all communication channels.
  • Attend meetings with stakeholders to find creative solutions to complex problems; Research and creates content
  • Responsible for drafting and editing written deliverables that meet client contract requirements; Provides quality assurance of all deliverables
  • Communicate with all PM's to draft messaging and presentations
  • Engage with other internal teams (communications, quality, strategic) to gain required approval on content and accuracy
  • Develop, support, research, create content on all Digital Communications web or digital platform
  • Completes projects by coordinating with all interested parties
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
  • Work simultaneously on 5+ projects based on current client workload
  • Strong presentation design portfolio demonstrating expert level in PowerPoint including use of multiple masters, color themes, animations, actions, and video
  • Work special projects as required

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of related work experience, including at least 3 years of experience proofreading and editing all facets of corporate communications
  • Expert skills in MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, etc. as well as the ability to work in HTML
  • Experience in Adobe Create Cloud (specifically, Photoshop, InDesign)
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • Experience with executive level presentations and memorandums
  • have strong organizational and multi-tasking skills; Creativity and the ability to meet multiple deadlines is required
  • Ability to work in a collaborative environment, independently and as a team member
  • Must be detail oriented, and have ability to deal with ambiguity in day to day operations
  • Self-starter with the ability to take the initiative to ensure business goals are met and exceeded
  • Position requires ability to exercise good judgment to appropriately handle confidential issues

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Understanding of Section 508 compliance for content creation

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, English/Journalism, or related field (or equivalent)

Clearance:

  • Ability to obtain Moderate Background Investigation (MBI) clearance.
