Overview

A large Federal healthcare agency is implementing a risk-based approach to cybersecurity that creates unity of effort across 20+ cybersecurity projects that are currently separate. One of the key challenges is defining an effective cybersecurity approach that works enterprise-wide, implementing multiple new cybersecurity tools, and driving the adoption of best practices, and data-driven processes across the stakeholder groups. The overall approach must continue to support the organization even as it adopts new technologies – like Cloud, High Performance Computing, and Machine Learning – to support its healthcare research mission. 

 

The Technical Project Specialist will use a consultative approach to and a deep understanding of current technology and cybersecurity to analyze and consolidate technical requirements, develop data-driven dashboards that meet those requirements, and work collaboratively across various stakeholder groups to drive adoption. With knowledge of data visualization and analysis, the Technical Cybersecurity Specialist will improve the quality of data for decision making, assist in dashboarding, developing routines to automate and consolidate data collection from data calls, correlate metrics using ServiceNow and routine reporting, and identifying and tracking useful metrics. The Technical Cybersecurity Specialist will also develop and conduct training sessions, capturing and incorporating feedback to improve the quality of provided products over time. This person must be resourceful, detail-oriented, 100% client-focused, and possess a continuing passion for their profession.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain technical requirements in a backlog, and engage stakeholders and subject matter experts to prioritize requirements into continual releases of new data products
  • Lead and assist in the development of data-driven dashboards and analytic tools that fuse real-time data from across multiple tools to identify cybersecurity risks and help inform risk-based decision making
  • Prepare and present technical and data-driven reports that inform agency leaders
  • Identify, track, and manage metrics, including dashboard usage metrics, to improve adoption of the created dashboards and analytic tools across the enterprise
  • Apply a wide range of traditional and agile principles to provide responsive and effective project management solutions.
  • Work with cross-functional teams with diverse technical skillsets to support successful project completion; re-plan and adjust project courses based on realities of team velocity and dynamic business/user needs.
  • Track progress and report on status and metrics at the task/work package and project level.
  • Create a project management dashboard for providing timely progress information to project teams and customer management.
  • Devise clear risk mitigation strategies and engage appropriate stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • B.S. in Computer Science or Information Management
  • 10+ years overall experience in the IT or IT consulting field
  • 5+ years development data-driven dashboards for IT infrastructure, application development, or cybersecurity projects
  • 5+ years experience directly interfacing with clients, with a proven track record of managing client expectations and maintaining relationships
  • Experience applying a variety of technology implementation methodologies (e.g., agile, waterfall) within a large-scale program that spans multiple stakeholder groups
  • Mastery of Microsoft Office tools, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Project
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with 3+ years experience preparing and presenting technical topics to senior audiences

 

Additional Qualifications:

  • Experience leading efforts in a Federal Healthcare agency (e.g., HHS, VA)
  • ITIL v3 Certification
  • Masters Degree in IT or Business related field
  • Certified Project Management Professional (PMP)
  • Security-related certification (e.g., CISSP, Security+)
