    TISTA Science and Technology Corporation is seeking a Systems Engineer to join our growing team.

     

    The Systems Engineer is responsible for providing technical support and guidance on a variety of architecture, design, integration and technical aspects of systems development aligned with VA standards. The candidate will be responsible for analysis and review of requirements pertaining to the effective development, provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and/or maintenance of systems hardware, software and related infrastructure.

    Responsibilities

    • Provide system administration, engineering, and management support services, including cloud infrastructure
    • Work closely with architects and application teams to design, develop, plan and implement application integration and deployments following a scaled, agile framework (SAFe)
    • Drive technical innovation and efficiency of operations via automation scripting and working with integrated patterns and reusable, standard API’s to achieve optimal scalability
    • Configure and fine tune cloud infrastructure system (as needed)
    • Provide technical management and support for virtual servers (VMware or in the cloud) including security configurations, patching, and troubleshooting (as needed)
    • Provide technical input to the systems engineering process following SAFe, lean agile principles
    • Review and analyze existing applications or new requirements to determine potential deficiencies in hardware and/or software products
    • Perform and present outcome of systems assurance reviews
    • Advise customer in production selection, capacity planning operations and performance management
    • Provide guidance on selection of strategic products and assist with first use and tuning assistance
    • Check for existing or newly proposed software the Technical Reference Manual (TRM) for approval and compliance

    Qualifications

    • Solid experience in system administration, engineering, and management of support services for the Windows/Solaris OS
    • Knowledge of MUMPS and/or Cache databases (preferred)
    • Knowledge of cloud architecture and cloud management (preferred)
    • Experience with automation using Python or similar dynamic languages (preferred)
    • Knowledge of cloud technologies to advise, identify, create, and deliver infrastructure services and architecture for new systems and the transition from legacy system to cloud infrastructure
    • Excellent problem solving and analysis skills with the ability to effectively troubleshoot, resolve, or escalate problems
    • Knowledge and understanding of the Lean Agile System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) is a plus
    • Experience with VA systems, technology and architecture standards (preferred)
    • Experience in Federal Agencies/VA is a plus 
    • Excellent written and verbal communications skills

    Education/Certifications:

    • Master’s Degree and minimum of 10 years of work experience; degree may be substituted through additional 10 years of relevant work experience
    • AWS or MS Azure certification (preferred)
    • SAFe certification (preferred)

    Clearance:

    • Ability to obtain a Moderate Background Investigation (MBI) clearance
